Somewhere in Double Life, a player sits in a rocking chair.

Jimmy’s head is bent down in concentration as he carefully passes his needle in and out of the fabric. Embroidery has always soothed him, so it’s been his favorite way to spend the time in quiet moments. Several framed squares of his designs already adorn the ranch’s walls- as well as a few shirts in Tango’s closet.

Afternoon sunlight streams in through the window beside Jimmy, illuminating the dust that floats lazily in the still air. He can hear the occasional ka-thunk of pistons as Tango troubleshoots the sugar cane farm in the basement. Beyond that, the animals outside are always audible- though far less so than they used to be, back when the cow pen was adjacent to the ranch house. The background noise is something familiar, now. Something comforting.

It’s been a lovely couple months on the Double Life world since they all agreed to end the death game. Everyone’s bases are really starting to come along, as is the centrally-located shopping district. Infrastructure is gradually getting built up- paths, bridges, landscaping, and even a few communal farms. With the world border down, the Double Lifers are taking the opportunity to spread out a bit.

Jimmy thinks there’ll be an expedition to the nearest stronghold in the coming week to finally procure some elytra and shulker boxes. He’ll leave that particular adventure to the more PVP-inclined players, though. He knows Tango isn’t a fan of dragon fights and truthfully, he doesn’t trust his own capabilities in that regard, either. The last thing he wants to do is cause Tango an unexpected death at an inconvenient time.

There have been a handful of accidents between the two of them, mostly during caving sessions. Those are generally inconsequential and easily laughed off. Jimmy wants to keep it that way.

he is a slightly possessive and jealous man. if someone is flirting with you, his eyes are narrowed at the person who is way too close to you, and his leg is bouncing with anxiety.

sooner or later, he saunters over to the two of you and wraps an arm around your shoulders.

"hey, baby," he whispers in your ear, but it was loud enough for the person in front of you to hear. you shiver, slightly leaning into leon's embrace.

when you first met leon, you were immediately attracted to him. so, of course, you started to flirt with him.

though, he isn't dumb. he knew you were flirting with him (he was flirting back, after all). he teased you for it, obviously.

"are you flirting with me?" he says with a smirk. leon leaned down to get closer to your face, tilting his head.

people say that leon is a flirting machine and is good with women. no he is not.

i mean, yes, he does flirt a lot, but he is not good with women at all.

you found it very charming and cute when he asked you out. a huge smile was plastered on your face, staring at the nervous man in front of you.

“i- hm, i was just- fuck. i was wondering if you, i dunno,” he clears his throat. his face is slightly pink, but he thinks that his face is a deep red by how hot his body feels. “do you want to go get dinner with me sometime?” he manages to get out. he sighs out of relief- he did it. he feels a drop of sweat roll down his temple onto his cheek, shoving his clammy hands into his jean pockets.

of course, you said yes. i mean, who wouldn’t?

y’all aren’t gonna like this, but he definitely smokes cigarettes.

i mean c’mon, he was born in 1977. though, he didn’t willingly start smoking. his friends in high-school peer pressured him.

he tried to stop smoking before his first day at rpd, but it failed miserably. he felt antsy and he was more on edge- angry. he hated that he got easily frustrated with people. he’ll try again someday.

he smells like cigarette smoke and leather. occasionally he smells like coconut & patchouli (his cologne).

always has a stress toy with him. i like to think he wears a fidget ring on his middle finger or thumb. playing with a stress ball or twirling a pen makes him more focused and calm.

bites the inside of his cheek when he’s deep in thought. he doesn’t even notice that he’s doing it, it just happens.

his music taste is decent!

he doesn’t listen to the radio, thinks 2010 music is trash and it’s annoying.

it’s mostly a combination between 90s alt & grunge and early 2000’s rock. his favorite band is radiohead.

always gives eye contact. never looks away when you're talking, especially when you're talking about your long day at work or something you're passionate about.

as we all may know, he's bad at communicating his feelings. you can tell he's getting better with it, but it's still a challenge for him.

he never talks about raccoon city. you only found out about this from overhearing a conversation he had with claire. you brought it up one time, but he fell silent and never looked up at you. ever since then, you never talked about it with him.

mans suffers with frequent nightmares, so obviously he never sleeps. when he's with you though, he doesn't have any nightmares. so, he stays up until you're ready for bed.

when you're out late, he's waiting for you in bed.

leon loves to get his hair played with. he loves the feeling of your nails lightly scratching his scalp.

if you take meds, he always reminds you to take them. he also watches you take them, just in case.

leon always wants the best for you. he just loves you, so so much.

Wheeljack understands that everyone has an idol or someone they look up to.

Miko for example. She looks up to all the Wreckers, even though they have more extreme methods, they are at least one of the good guys!

Starscream is the farthest thing from being a good role model, or descent mech.

He makes it his personal mission to get Buddy to find another idol or mentor within the team, he’ll even settle for Knockout or one of Vechicon’s that’s strangely nice to humans.

What was his name again? Sean? Shirley? Stephen?

To a point Wheeljack understands why Buddy sees him in such a way.

Starscream isn’t the Second in Command of the Cons for nothing. Also taking into consideration that Buddy is on a team that is all land-based vehicles, he understands that Buddy might fill left out of the mix.

If Buddy feels lonely flying around, Wheeljack is grabbing the Jackhammer and is going to go flying with them.

Is this going to make Magnus nearly blow a gasket? Most likely.

Will it be worth it in the end? Absolutely.

If he sees Starscream try and recruit Buddy to the Cons ranks, the Second in Command is leaving the battlefield without a servo or entire arm. Buddy isn’t going to go anywhere near that Con if he’s around.

Wheeljack does tell Buddy after the ordeal is over that they are a valued member of the team. Just in case they didn’t already know that.

“Hmm?”--Buddy

“You’re a good kid, Buddy. A brilliant Autobot Seeker and the best air support we could ask for. Don’t forget that, okay.”—Wheeljack

Bulkhead is seriously going to have a sit-down conversation with Buddy about this.

Like Wheeljack, he is going to make it his personal mission to find Buddy another idol/ mentor.

He does see how Buddy might feel different from the rest of the team based on their alt mode so he tries to be as inclusive as he can in other activities.

Buddy feeling bored? Now they are lobbing with him and Wheeljack.

Buddy feeling lonely? Just wait until its night-time, then he can go drive underneath Buddy’s flight path and the two can talk about anything Buddy wants.

If Starscream tries to get Buddy to come to the Cons ranks, Bulkhead is going to get nervous, but that nervousness is going to turn to rage as he uses his wrecking ball to make some brand-new dents along his chassis.

He does ask Buddy later if they are okay with their spot on the team, and if they aren’t to tell him why. He wants his friend to know that they are wanted on the team, not just as air support, but for the bot they are.

“You okay Buddy?”--Bulkhead

“Its gonna take a bit more than just a couple of baby missiles to take your air support down Bulk.”--Buddy

“I’m not asking about our air support. I’m asking my tiny friend if they are okay.”--Bulkhead

Prime is troubled.

On one servo, he understands why Buddy might feel this way about Starscream.

As Second in Command of the Decepticon army, Starscream has gain feats and recognition as a terror in the skies amongst the Autobots. He is wild foe that while not always efficient but a near master in the artistry of flying amongst the Seekers. Buddy being young and a seeker themselves is going to look up naturally to one of the biggest names in Seeker history.

But…

Optimus does have a talk with them about Starscream.

He respects Buddy wanting to look up to the Seeker, for his flying abilities, not morality.

Everyone has someone they look up to whether it be good or bad, it is on the bot themselves on how they want to interpret that idol.

However, Optimus does draw a line when Starscream tries to get Buddy to join the Cons.

Dad mode activated.

He is going to make one clear warning to Starscream to leave Buddy alone before the blaster starts firing.

After dealing with the Decepticons, Optimus makes it clear to Buddy that if they want to talk about anything, that he is there to listen.

“We are a team Buddy, a family. If you feel that you are, otherwise, you are sorely mistaken. You may think that you are not, but you are and always be a part of this family.”--Optimus

“…”--Buddy

“If you ever have the need to talk about something, you can always come and talk to me or anyone else on the team. But please reach out so we may be able to help you with whatever you may need.”--Optimus

I've been sick so I don't have a lot writing-wise and my recent sketches are a secret so I'm gonna post a little bit of both to not make the writing part so barebones.

This is from a story idea I've had for a while loosely based on the Genghis Khan music video. Mobius is a SHIELD agent trying to capture Loki. It's very alt-universe and most of it's being planned so that's why I only have a bit that's kinda worth sharing.

A presence loomed over him. “Agent Mobius, are you finally awake?” Mobius jolted from his sleep. The room wasn’t dark anymore, instead a bright fluorescent light momentarily blinded him. He tried covering his eyes but was unable to move his arm.  “Had to take precautions. I’m guessing you don’t get to where you are in SHIELD without a few tricks down your sleeve,” the voice spoke again.  It was very familiar, but Mobius was having a hard time placing it with the growing migraine. “Where am I?” Mobius managed to ask, his dry throat protesting. He was trying hard to remember his training, what to do when captured.  “Not relevant,” they replied. “Ok then, why am I here?” Mobius proceeded. He tried moving his legs, but they were also bound.  “You hold valuable information, my dear Agent Mobius.”

And this is a wip sketch of Mobius with long hair that maybe someday I'll have time to work on. Now that I think about it, this should be what Mobius looks like in this AU.

Tojoctober Day 27 - Letter

This one is quite possibly one of my favorite pieces I wrote for this month, and this is the prompt I teased in Sunday Six... so buckle up.

Daigo reads something from Kiryu, and makes a realization of his own.

(YAKUZA 6 SPOILERS.)

Riding down the highway in a very obvious limo, sat 3 members of the most powerful Yakuza group in Kamurocho. Goro Majima and Taiga Saejima sit next to one other, looking grimly at the third person sitting across from them.

Daigo Dojima is not paying attention to the stares of his advisors, as his mind is racing much too fast for his liking. He had gotten out of prison on an early release, but his only thoughts were on the reason why he was let out. He stares out of the limo at the highway speeding by.

“Ya must be tired, just getting outta the slammer. We've been waitin' for you though."

Daigo looks over, and makes eye contact with Majima. The man was using his more serious tone, something Daigo was more used to than most.

“Ya heard, didn't you?" Majima breaches what Daigo assumes is the elephant in the room, the void within all three of them, as the pit in Daigo's stomach sinks deeper.

The other advisor leans into Daigo's view, his face also serious.

“We're on the brink of war with the Yomei Alliance."

Daigo's gaze shifts towards Saejima, taking in what he's said.

“Everyone's chompin' at the bit to get revenge for the fourth chairman." Saejima sits back up. "Ain't no halting that."

“Can't say I disagree, though." Majima's words cut through the air, hinting at the aggression Daigo thinks he's trying to veil.

“So what's yer plan? Sixth Chairman."

Daigo looks out again at the highway, hiding his eyes from the oath brothers. He knows if they got one good look at him, they could tell he was barely holding it together. At least, this predicament was distracting his brain. It'd help to list the facts.

“Takeru Kurusu is dead. His son Tsuneo is behind bars now. And this Koshimizu guy has yet to take full control of the Yomei Alliance." Daigo states, thinking internally that he sounded like a robot.

“So? You sayin' we strike Hiroshima while the iron's hot?" Saejima interjects, hoping to complete the young chairman's thoughts.

“Well… Hiroshima's gonna expect us to come knockin' sooner or later." Majima responds and leans forward, his eye creasing with determination. "Sooner makes a shitton more sense to me."

Daigo turns and meets Majima's gaze with one of his own. “I… don't think we know the whole story."

Sounds of confusion erupt from the two advisors, as Daigo reaches into his jacket and pulls out a letter. One he was handed a few days ago, and instructed not to open until he was safe, and with the oath brother advisors.

With one swift motion, he rips the envelope open and pulls the contents out. He gives the pair a look before opening the paper, hearing the sounds of recognition as Majima and Saejima look down and read what was on the outside of the envelope.

To: The Sixth Chairman of the Tojo Clan

Regarding the late Kazuma Kiryu

“Ya haven't read that yet?" Majima inquires, leaning forward with a curious spark. 

Daigo hesitates. “I was told not to. At least, I was instructed to wait for the two of you to be around."

Saejima looks at the chairman with a confused look. “I'm not sure why. We didn't get that kinda direction. Not to mention our letters had the same shit. But yer sayin that piece of paper is gonna give us the answer?"

Daigo shrugs. "Well, there's only one way to find out."

He glances at both men once again, and with a slightly shaky breath, Daigo begins to read the last words of the Fourth Chairman.

I have a long list of regrets.

I have no business saying it, but, I considered myself your father.

Daigo pauses. Who could Kiryu be talking about? Haruka-chan? He continues, missing the surprised glance between his advisors.

The things I should have told you over the years have piled up like a mountain.

I failed you, though. So much has been left unsaid.

In the past few weeks, I've seen so many different kinds of relationships. Different types of parents.

I saw a parent bound by customs.

Another who never loved his son… and only realized after it was too late.

The two brothers relax their physical appearances, becoming enraptured by the chairman's words. Daigo knew Kiryu had been bouncing between Hiroshima and Kamurocho for the last few weeks, but what had Kiryu gotten up to before his death? Where had he seen all of this tragedy, before enacting one himself?

Children who, above all, wanted to prove themselves. Show their parents they were capable. Prove that they deserved their love.

Daigo swallows. I'm guilty of that, he thinks to himself, before continuing on.

So much grief came from it, the rift between parent and child. I saw it firsthand.

Did these families have no faith in their bonds?

That wasn't it.

They had absolute faith in those bonds.

Even in this harsh reality, they tried to affirm their bonds. Labored, agonized over them. But… that wasn't the answer.

They simply didn't spend enough time together as a family. And it ruined them.

Daigo pauses again, and couldn't help but think of his own father. How many times was he abandoned in the 80s because Sohei Dojima was too busy with the family and their squabbles? He recognized the late Dojima as his father, sure, but he never took care of him like a father did. Sometimes, Daigo doubted he ever loved him.

If you ask me…Nothing is more vital than time. To that end, I think we made the same mistakes they did.

Daigo's heart sinks. Did Kiryu really feel this way for Haruka-chan? Nothing could've prepared him for the next few sentences, and Daigo fails to hide the shock in his voice.

I never expected to become the Tojo Clan's Fourth Chairman. Then I tapped you to become the Sixth.

Daigo.

I considered you my son, but I never thought to actually stand by your side.

Daigo was stunned. This letter… it was to him? In that one moment, everything, all of Kiryu's unexplained actions towards Daigo, since he became the chairman, no, before that…

They all made sense, all at once.

Daigo had to keep going.

It was easy to say I had faith in your judgment. To say I entrusted everything to Daigo Dojima. But that wasn't enough.

Instead of cherishing our time together, I threw it all away. Rejected our bond. Instead of facing my past, I ran. And ran from you as well.

Daigo kept reading without pause, but the advisors couldn't help but notice that his voice was starting to waver.

Thinking about the parents I met… I don't even have the words. I don't have the right to call myself a father to either you or the Tojo Clan.

Daigo wanted to scream, cry out, tell the world that Kazuma Kiryu, for once in his damn life, was wrong. Daigo only had a few words left. 

So, by the time you read this letter, I may already be gone. But please, don't try to avenge me as a son would his father. My life isn't worth that much.

That is my final request of you.

Daigo.

Daigo didn't register that his next breath shakes more than the rest. He didn't notice tears threatening to form in his widened eyes. He lets his hand fall, the letter landing in his lap, before Majima gently grabs it and begins reading it to himself.

Memories flood his mind.

Daigo, as a young kid, and Kiryu reprimanding him for some stupid thing he did, but giving him a life lesson at the same time.

Kiryu, in the back alley by Shine Club, beating the snot out of him.

Kiryu, giving him a somber look as Daigo gunned Patriarch Shindo down.

A shocked Kiryu, as Daigo awakened, rolled out of his hospital bed, and shot the leaders of Black Monday.

Daigo, leaping towards Kiryu, attempting to prove himself worthy of the Tojo.

Kiryu screaming his name as he faded out of consciousness on the rooftops.

Kiryu standing next to his wheelchair, speaking of his reasoning on why he's going back to prison, with a solemn yet determined look on his face.

For as long as Daigo could remember, Kiryu was his guiding light. He sometimes joked to himself that Kiryu earned his epithet not from Sohei, but from his consistent protection of Daigo and the Clan. The Fourth Chairman was constantly at his side, getting him out of trouble, even if it meant putting himself in even more danger. If Daigo called, Kiryu would answer.

Daigo felt stupid.

He knew of this truth, it’s been within him for years. But, he was never courageous enough to put it into words. With the letter in front of him, he couldn't run from that truth anymore. In fact, he finds himself not wanting to run from it. It saddens him that it took until Kiryu's death for him to find the words, but Daigo decides to hold onto this truth as tight as he can:

Kazuma Kiryu was the closest person Daigo Dojima ever had to a father.

Once Daigo snaps out of his stupor, he notices Majima had finished reading the letter, and he and Saejima were staring at each other. Daigo knew they were each wordlessly mulling over the Yomei Alliance conflict, and the first request of Kiryu's will.

It was only Daigo who recognized the second request of the Fourth Chairman.

Daigo decides to break the silence and tension in the limo.

“Kazuma Kiryu has left a final request to us, a final chapter to write in his legacy with the Tojo Clan."

He glances at the brothers, who return Daigo's intense stare.

“So, I will not let my father's story end in an act of revenge."

WHAT CAN I DO

icons: only square ones for now. these can contain either card icons (icon that is just a close-up of the card, optionally with some touch-ups), general icons (icon of a character on a certain background, mostly of a monochrome color) and pride icons (icon of a character on a pride flag, although i want to try making icons with disability flags as well). i won't do gif icons, though, or at least not for now ):

twitter layouts: a set containing an icon (please specify which one from the icons above) and a twitter header; the types of headers are general headers (containing the requested character/pairing on a certain background; works with pride flags as well), picture headers (headers that are a picture fitting the icon) and mixed headers (made from three pictures — two fitting the icon and one containing the character/pairing)

WHAT I MIGHT DO

moodboards: either open ones (where every picture is separated) or closed ones (where everything is in one picture). if you choose a closed one, i will as well do two versions; one with only pictures used in the moodboard and one with a requested character/pairing on top of it.

stimboards: nothing to say in this one, just that i might deny the request when i won't be able to find good gifs. you can send me gifs you want to see in the stimboard, though

wallpapers: either phone or pc ones, specified size would be appreciated. similiar to icons, these can contain either card wallpapers (preferably only to be requested for phone wallpapers), general wallpapers and pride wallpapers. i might experiment with some of them, however!

tumblr layouts: not too confident in making these, but i might as well try. works the same way as twitter layouts, but the only header type is gonna be a general header

reply icons: also not too confident with these, but work the same way as normal icons. they're just uhh shaped like reply icons you know.

feh build dump as i've been cleaning out my fodder stash....had a lot of good free pulls/pitybreakers lately

waiting impatiently for julian to get his prf/refine (i have not been keeping track but i don't think it's too far off? could still be like a year though lmao) so he can be finished up. flayn's refine should be in the distance too, and guinivere (who i've been holding off on giving fodder to, her base kit is workable and the refine isn't THAT far away...) also always in need of more staff fodder....more.......

there aren't that many units i really want left who don't have at least one version in the game by now. mostly some engages (goldmary, zelkov, fogado mostly) and yashiro tms (i can dream...). and mitama, franz, elphin, and calill (someday, i hope?) plus would like better versions of a few guys (NOIRE, a nyna with some kind of prf, a non-fallen maurim). legendary l'arachel starting to seem not-impossible. and the maribelle and reyson alt dream never dies.

gonna snag celine when this hall of forms is over too (speaking of Needs An Alt, can i dream of her maybe someday getting a better outfit in feh?) got my first rennac (was never willing to spend much on him but always wanted him to finish team l'arachel so building him up now) and actively working on sp training some more little guys. feh is just a game for giving little guys treats i think

Writing this out for my own reference:

4.4 banners are a skip for me on both accounts. I do like some things about Xianyun, but she doesn't really meet my priority criteria. So maybe someday down the line of rerun, but not right now. I'm just going to be saving on both, get GaMing on main, and probably do the exploration on main, while taking it easy on alt.

4.5 is supposed to have Chiori and is speculated to have Albedo rerun. We'll know Chiori's kit in a few days when beta starts, but the current "leaks" (heavy sus) are describing her as basically Better Albedo. Which... does not really do much for me, when I have Albedo At Home. He's already both Geo and Mondstadt, so he's one of my personal faves. I have no interest in replacing him, similar to why I've skipped out on Itto, despite him being quite cute.

So unless Chiori's kit is just absolutely fire, amazing, 10/10 (which won't be the case), whether I roll on her will depend on the 4 stars on her banner. If she's paired with Itto and has Gorou, then obviously that's great, I'll happily take her. If she unexpectedly has Dahlia, I'll take her. (Though I doubt Dahlia will be playable in 4.5. At most, I think he'll appear in the event, like Mika did, and get released later.)

Also, her weapon is supposed to be usable on Albedo, so if the second weapon is good too, I might go for weapon banner instead. My most recent fancy is getting Lyney's bow for Childe. I have some misc reasons that are totally very smart, I promise. So if it's that, or Jade Cutter with Albedo, I'll roll her weapon banner.

If it's none of those, then 4.5 is probably also a skip.

The other character I still want from Fontaine is Arlecchino, speculated for 4.6. I definitely can't get both her and Chiori without some truly insane luck, so if I do go for Chiori('s 4 stars), I'll have to skip her until rerun. It would be nice if she had a strong kit, but tbh I don't see that being too likely. Passable but unremarkable Pyro on-field DPS (like Scaramouche) seems the most likely, or maybe a good but unremarkable niche buffer (like Baizhu or Shenhe), given that we're on the second half of the nation and this is where the game always starts slowing down. We're also getting the Pyro Nation next, which is going to have the Pyro Archon and likely at least one more very powerful Pyro unit (like Alhaitham and Neuvillette). So they're not gonna waste a particularly good kit on Arlecchino here, imo. But I'm mostly interested in her because she has pants, so the kit would just be icing.

There is also speculation that the next set of skins, during summer, will include Albedo and Sucrose. Huge if true! I would be very excited, but also need genesis crystals for Albedo's... god help me if there's two 5 star skins for Mondstadt characters.

For my alt, I'm just in saving mode for Neuvilette. His rerun should be... 4.5 or 4.7. Since Furina and Arlecchino are supposed to be 4.6, I feel like sticking him in there would be too much. I would ideally like to get both him and either his C1 or his weapon, though it might depend on what he's paired with. After that, it'll be saving for Childe... whenever his rerun will be. That should also be when I get his C4 on my main, so I'll finally be able to experience what that's like.

Anyway, the wishing should settle down as we get into the end of the nation, so I'll also try to spend less time on grinding both primos and mats/artifacts. I really need to stop using up all my resin and ideally doing dailies. Ideally, I'd like to use my main only when a new area releases and my alt maybe once a week or so.

Hi Desi!! Thank you so much for sending me a music ask!! An impossible ask! I honestly think that 9-1-1 OG has the better soundtrack, their use of music is so clever and it always makes me laugh or adds to the emotional experience of whatever is happening in the show. But I do think Lone Star does that to an extent!

If I had to choose one favorite it would be Fever by Elvis playing during the sexytimes scene in 2x12 as the condo starts to burn. That was an inspired choice, and I thought they choreographed everything really well with the song and the boys being passionate and the flames sparking!

Okay, one thing I really did love about the soundtrack in Season One is that they tried to use artists from Austin and a lot of alt country songs. That really helped with establishing authenticity.

Gold on the Ceiling by Black Keys at the end of the police station scene in 1x03. Perfection!!! It really lends to the playful manner that we see is being established in their relationship.

If You Need To, Keep Time on Me by Fleet Foxes in 1x04 while Owen showers. Love this band and this song, and it really lent itself to the scene!

I swear to you I screamed when I heard this song playing in the background of this scene when I was watching live!!!! David Ramirez is also from ATX !!!! And the song is just so perfect for this moment that Owen and TK are having, and kind of this part of their story arch for the season. Where TK is kind of realizing that Owen isn’t perfect, and coming to terms with some of the ways he’s failed him in the past. It will rearrange your brain chemistry. The build up! The emotion!! The absolute devastation!!! Seeing TK listening to that song took me right there and gave me all the goosebumps.
